About

Julie and Michael Wald

We started Namaste New York in 2002 after recognizing New Yorker's need for self care seamlessly infused into their busy schedules at home and at work. Since day one our business has been a labor of love. We spend our time discovering the best teachers, trainers, therapists and healers in the locations we serve, and we connect them with our extraordinary clientele of brilliant people who "get it".

We are informed by our combined backgrounds in Clinical Social Work and Law, and our life as Yogi's and teachers. Our daily work running and evolving Namaste New York is inspired by our own juggling act  - balancing the raising of three amazing children with our work as business owners and teachers, our own self care, and having fun, of course. We believe that life is meant to be lived.  Living includes several key ingredients - work, love, self care, service, and play. This is what Namaste New York is all about. We hope to inspire our clients to find balance and joy in their own living.

Hara Woltz

Hara Woltz is an environmental artist, scientist, and activist. Utilizing a variety of media, she addresses aspects of the destruction and conservation of ecological systems.  Through her work, she reveals patterns, connects disciplines, and examines interactions between humans and the environment.  For her, yoga, meditation, art and science are are intertwined in the practice of life.  Currently, she draws particular inspiration from the Tantric meditation paintings of Northern India and the embodied idea that such paintings may be used as catalysts for shifting mental patterns, and leading to deeper levels of consciousness and awakening by combining meditation with a visual construct.

When asked to describe her work, she summarized some of her inspirations....

Much ecological degradation occurs at the edges of human awareness.  Every hour, species quietly go extinct, wetlands slowly disappear, and climate patterns change.

Humans are deeply connected to these and other shifts, yet a false sense of remoteness pervades. I find a mutual resonance among all life forms, and through my work I explore the ecologic realities that bind, separate, repulse, and compel us.

As an artist and scientist, I engage with elements of ecological systems to investigate the complex and sometimes paradoxical relationships between humans and other living organisms. My work addresses threats to nature that disrupt the patterns necessary for biodiversity to persist, such as habitat fragmentation and pollution.

Field research is integral to the creation of my work. Informed through direct immersion, I document, question, and mitigate the impacts of human constructs—perceived and concrete—on the environment and its inhabitants.
